How has the "Mobile Friendly" updated impacted businesses?
No immediate significant impact
According to the results of a
study conducted by Myposeo , a week after the launch of this update, it would
not be new under the sun. This study carried out on 66 sites consisted of
analyzing various parameters such as the position of their URLs, the evaluation
of the traffic generated from 1,000 keywords tracked, the ranking of sites in
the first search results...
This analysis shows that the
first week was not as tragic for companies as it was announced before the launch
of Mobile Friendly. According to the editor Myposeo, the data of the
measurements made are contradictory and do not show a real incidence related to
this algorithm of Google. In short! The long-awaited Mobilegeddon would not
have occurred in the first week of the update.
Confused consequences on the SEO of companies
According to the results of a
survey conducted by Koozai on 2,000 small and medium-sized enterprises, the
deployment of Mobile Friendly has had an impact on SMEs. In fact, 45% of the
companies surveyed noticed changes in their position in the results or a
significant impact on their traffic.
In addition, 41% of the companies
surveyed noted a fall of position of at least 3 places in the search engines.
And even if 69% of these SMEs still consider that the deployment of the Mobile
Friendly update has been over-mediated, the fact remains that these changes are
a real source of confusion.
A responsive site that did not save businesses
And for those who thought that
just having a responsive site would be enough to gain visibility, the opposite
effect occurred. In fact, 27% of SMEs surveyed said they had registered a fall
in positioning in the results after the optimization of their sites on mobile.
Nevertheless, it has never been
said that a site compatible with mobiles was enough to be well positioned! With
this new cleanup, it is certain that Google has analyzed other parameters. It's
a safe bet that companies that have noticed a decline in their positioning
simply forgot to implement all the other good practices inherent in natural referencing.
